THE STORY BEHIND THE WORK
A personal timeline of how an early interest in electronics became a career in technology and software.
HOW MY INTEREST IN TECHNOLOGY BEGAN
My interest in technology began at seven years old and continued through school computer labs, professional IT work, higher education, and founding my own company.
My story began in Reading, Pennsylvania, where I was born in February 1985.
At seven years old, I took apart a VCR and put it back together. That hands-on experience sparked a lasting interest in understanding how technology works from the inside out.
I began using Apple II computers in the elementary school computer lab in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania. In June of that year, I moved to Winter Garden, Florida, where I attended Tildenville Elementary School and gained experience with IBM computers.
At Lakeview Middle School, business education and technology education classes introduced me to Macintosh computers, expanding my experience across computing platforms.
Met Tiffany Kurtz, who is now my wife, beginning an important chapter in my personal life.
Graduated from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida.
Welcomed my first child, Lillian Kurtz.
Graduated from Ashford University with a B.A. in Finance, strengthening my foundation in business and financial decision-making.
Started Our Micro Family, a family video channel documenting everyday life, outings, milestones, and the experiences of balancing family, work, and education. It became another way to tell stories and share moments through digital media.
Earned an M.A. in Organizational Management from Ashford University, building on my interest in how organizations plan, lead, and operate.
Began master's-level studies in Computer Science at The Pennsylvania State University, with a focus on artificial intelligence and software engineering.
Started Kurtz Global Entertainment Inc. to design and develop software, games, and the infrastructure behind connected digital products.
What connects these chapters is the same curiosity I had at seven: learning how systems work, understanding what makes them useful, and applying that knowledge to create something new.
